Sabre Foundation's book donation programs are managed in-country by local Partner Organizations -- non-governmental entitites with links to academic, library, charitable or professional organizations. These partners are responsible for selecting and distributing books in their countries.
Sabre's staff works with the Partners to define areas of need in each country. This information is used to solicit the donation of new books and journals from commercial publishers, university presses, professional societies, and research institutes. Sabre also ships 'special collections' donated by universities and individual scholars in the U.S. When donations are received, Sabre sends offering lists of available titles to its Partner Organizations for selection. Partners consult with advisors and potential recipients and place their orders, which are then packed and shipped in 20- or 40-foot sea containers.
Materials Donation
I. Publisher Donations
Publishers who wish to donate materials directly to Sabre Foundation, please contact Colin McCullough directly at the Sabre officies or via e-mail: colin@sabre.org.
II. Individual/Institutional Donations
If you are an individual or represent an institution interested in donating materials, please review our Donation Guidelines.
Please note that returning a completed donation form does not guarantee Sabre's acceptance of a prospective donation. Sabre's Reduced-Cost Journals Service makes highly specialized science, technology, and medical journals more readily available in Eastern Europe by offering substantial discounts on journal subscriptions. With three-year discounts of at least 50% on more than 2,500 serial titles, the Reduced-Cost Journals Service currently operates in six countries (Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia).
