John Archibald is a retired Foreign Service Officer with extensive experience in Sub-Saharan and North Africa. During his twenty-year career with the United States Information Agency (USIA) he served in Senegal, Ethiopia, Congo, Zaire, Algeria, France and Argentina, managing educational, cultural, library and book programs. At his last post (Paris) he directed USIA's book translation and publishing program for Africa for four years.

Since leaving USIA John has stayed involved with Africa, traveling there regularly for Sabre and other foundations. When at home in Boston he is active in local politics and neighborhood resident associations.

Prior to his career with USIA, John worked for Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City and the U.S. Peace Corps in Togo, West Africa.

John has a BA in Government from Harvard College and a M.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. He speaks French and Spanish.
