| Project Description: | Under the Cooperative Periodical Program, 25 gratis copies of current issues of 23 leading American library/information/computer science journals are being distributed among approximately 50 national, university, academy of science, and technical libraries throughout Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Assist International, Inc., distributes copies to leading libraries in each country, mainly the national library or the library of the academy of science, which retain certain titles and then distribute remaining titles to additional libraries in that country. Funding has been secured through donations from American information firms and organizations, individuals and American organizations interested in strengthening library services in specific countries.
