CODE receives books from Canadian and US. sources and works with a number of charitable organizations in the US.
New Books: CODE distributes primarily new books donated by publishers.
Used Books: Relevant "gently" used books are also shipped overseas.
As a general rule, CODE does not purchase books.
Destinations of Shipments: CODE's books are directed primarily to African countries, although shipments are effected also to the Caribbean and the Pacific region.
Kinds of Books Distributed: CODE distributes books at all levels in the following descending order of priority: Primary; general reading; adult education; secondary; technical/vocational; tertiary; medicine.
Content Selection Policy: CODE maintains a computerized inventory which describes the content of each title. Annotated lists are printed out from this inventory and are made available to overseas recipients who are thus able to make an informed choice.
