Cuba Book Donation Program
Sabre Foundation is collaborating with American publishers to bring new Spanish-language childrens books to the children of Cuba with its Cuba Book Donation Program.
Through distribution of children's books, and in the spirit of friendship between the American and Cuban people, the project will share with Cuban children the images, ideas and traditions that many of our best childrens books impart. These books can open windows on values such as sharing, tolerance, compromise, openness to others' points of view, freedom of thought and the richness of a diverse society.
This program will make good use of the growing number of new Spanish-language childrens books that are offered to Sabre as donations from U.S. publishers. The books are for pre-school and elementary levels and cover a wide range of subjects, including:
- Nature and animal life;
- Geography;
- Astronomy;
- Literature and language arts;
- Folk tales from around the world.
