Krytyka is a leading Kyiv-based journal of critical reviews, essays and discussion, edited
by George G. Grabowicz, Chyzhevs'kyj Professor of Ukrainian Literature at Harvard University.
With a mission similar to that of such western leaders in this genre as
The New York Review
of Books and The Times Literary Supplement, Krytyka examines critically a broad range of
topics-politics, culture and the arts, economics, to name a few. It provides a new intellectual,
non-partisan, pluralistic discourse for Ukraine and for readers of Ukrainian around the world.
Published monthly, Krytyka's recent authors have included George Soros, George G. Grabowicz,
Roman Szporluk, Norman Davies, Volodymyr Dibrova, Natalia Bilocerkivec, Mykola Riabchuk,
John-Paul Himka, Serhij Trymbach, and many other leading Ukrainian, Russian, and Western
intellectuals. HURI Publications is pleased to distribute Krytyka in the U.S. and Canada.
"Well-written, well-edited, intelligent, AND readable, Krytyka is a blast
of fresh air."
"It is high time that there appear in Ukrainian a publication that provides a non-politicized,
intellectual exchange of ideas. Perhaps the only thing that we have had in this genre was
Arka of the MUR period. Like all who cherish the development of Ukrainian culture I am very
pleased by the appearance of Krytyka and I wish it a long and intellectually stimulating
existence."
