DIRECTIONS

The Ukrainian Research Institute is located at 1583 Massachusetts Avenue, near the Harvard Law School Complex, just north of Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

The Ukrainian Research Institute is accessible by public transportation via the MBTA subway (the T) and buses (Routes 1, 66, 68, 69, 71, 72, 73, 74/75, 77, 77A, 78, 86, and 96) that stop in Harvard Square. To get to the Institute from Harvard station, either walk north through Harvard Yard and the Law School campus; or take the Church Street exit from the T station, turn right at street level, and walk north on Massachusetts Avenue along the Cambridge Common, crossing over at the Harvard Epworth United Methodist Church. The Institute is just two buildings away from the church. (10 minute walk from Harvard Square)

From Logan Airport

The Massport shuttle bus stops outside all airline terminals. Take the shuttle to the Airport subway stop (T stop). From there, take the Blue Line inbound train to Government Center. At Government Center, get off and go upstairs to the Green Line. Take any Green Line inbound train (B, C, D or E) and go one stop to Park Street. At Park Street, go downstairs and take the Red Line outbound train to Harvard Square (train marked Alewife). (Travel time: 45-60 minutes)

From South Station (Amtrak and Bus Terminal)

The MBTA Red Line stop (the T) is located in front of South Station. Take the Red Line inbound train (marked Alewife) to Harvard Square. (Travel time: 15-20 minutes)

BY CAR

Please note that there are parking meters on both sides of Massachusetts Avenue. The parking lot behind the Institute is for Harvard vehicles only. Unauthorized vehicles parked there will be towed by Harvard University.

From the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90)

From I-90, take exit 18, marked Cambridge/Allston. Stay to the right and follow the Cambridge signs off the ramp to the traffic lights. After the lights go straight and stay in the left lane while crossing the bridge. Immediately after crossing the bridge over the Charles River, turn left onto Memorial Drive. Continue on Memorial approximately 0.5 miles until you see a right-turn sign for Harvard Square (this is JFK Street). Turn right and follow JFK Street through Harvard Square. Past Harvard Square traffic will merge as you approach a set of traffic lights: pass through the lights and stay to the left. Once you are in the left set of lanes (not going down toward the underpass to the right) stay in the rightmost of the two left lanes. This lane feeds into Massachusetts Avenue going north. (The leftmost of the two left lanes will send you back into Harvard Square). The Ukrainian Research Institute will be four buildings to the right once you are on Massachusetts Avenue.

From I-93

Take exit 26 for Storrow Drive. Keep left on exit ramp. Follow signs for Storrow Drive/Back Bay, bearing left. Take left lane exit for Government Center/Kendall Square/3 North and bear right at sign for Kendall Square. Proceed across bridge onto Broadway. Follow Broadway for two miles until you must bear right at the fire station, onto Quincy Street. Move into the left lane and turn left at the light onto Cambridge Street. Proceed down through the underpass and move into the far right lane which feeds into Massachusetts Avenue. The Ukrainian Research Institute will be four buildings to the right once you are on Massachusetts Avenue.

From Route 128 (I-95)

From Route 128 (I-95), take exit 29 for Route 2 East to Arlington and Boston. Travel approximately 6.5 miles, approach rotary from left lane. Bear left, following signs for 3 North and 16 East to Medford. At the first light, turn right onto Massachusetts Avenue. Follow Massachusetts Avenue for 1.8 miles to Everett Street on the left (Chauncy Street on the right, 15th traffic light). The Cambridge Common will be visible straight ahead and the Ukrainian Research Institute will be three buildings past the intersection, to the left.
