The increase in consumer prices this April was 1.3%; in April 1998 compared to December 1997 it was 3.0%; prices for foodstuffs increased by 1.9% and 4.5%, respectively; prices for non-foodstuffs grew by 0.1% and 0.2%; and prices for paid services were up 1.1% and 2.3%, respectively.

The increment of prices established by manufacturers of industrial products in April was 0.5%. In April 1998 compared to December 1997, these prices increased by 2.9%.
